In 1966 a morse code strips was added to the first 1.10 and 50 lirot. Issued for circulation: 1958 – 1960. Withdrawn: Withdrawn in 1980. Designer: Gabriel and Maxim Shamir designed the face of the notes and the backs with the exception of the 1/2 and 10 lirots with the Jacob Zim collaborating with the Shamir brothers. Serial numbers: On the back of note. Description common to all banknotes. Face: On the left a person or persons presenting one of the chief occupations of Israel shown against an appropriate background. The inscriptions are only in Hebrew on the top right. "Bank of Israel" and on the bottom right the denomination the numerals of the denomination appear in each corner of except the lower right with the upper right numerals being larger. The signatures on the lower right corner are David Horowitz – the governor of the bank and to the left E.J. Nebenzahl – chairman of the advisory committee. Below the signatures the date 1958 and in Hebrew 5718 on the all but the fifty lirot which read 1960 and in Hebrew 5270 on the lower left corner Shamir brothers on all but fifty lirot which is unsigned. Back: On the right a portrayal of an archeological subject with a Hebrew explanation. The numerals of the denomination appear in each corner except the upper left corner. The numerals is larger in the lower left corner than in the upper right corner with the lower right numeral in Arabic the inscription "Bank of Israel" appears on top in Hebrew on the bottom in Arabic and vertically on the right in English. The serial numbers appear in the top left and bottom right corners on the lower left corner the designers' names. |
